In Memory of My Dad, and for Everyone Struggling 💙

In 2015, my life changed forever when I lost my dad to suicide. On that day, a part of me was lost too. At the time, I had a 6-week-old baby and was overwhelmed with grief. Every morning, I would wake up and wonder how I could possibly get through the day with such pain. I turned to alcohol to numb it, but it only made things worse. I found myself trapped in a vicious cycle—drinking to forget, only to wake up with a hangover that made everything harder.

Three years ago, I made a choice to break that cycle. I started exercising daily and i signed up for a half marathon to raise money for a mental health charity. I went from barely running to completing 21k in just six months. That first race had one major goal in mind: to be fit enough to run the London Marathon by 2025.

Since then, I’ve ran four official half marathons and have been running consistently for two years. 2025 is a deeply significant year for me—not only does it mark 10 years since my dad took his life, but it also marks 10 years of living with grief. I want to honor this journey by raising money for Rethink Mental Illness, an incredible charity that has given me the opportunity to run the London Marathon in my dad’s memory.

Please donate what you can. Together, we can help support those who are struggling with their mental health so that hopefully no other family has to go through the pain that mine has endured. 💙

Your contribution will help provide vital services such as support groups, and educational resources for individuals and families affected by mental illness.

Together, we can make a difference.

Prioritising Well-Being: A Journey of Resilience

Tuesday 22nd Oct
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to forget about our own well-being while juggling the demands of life. Yet, taking care of ourselves should always be a top priority. Our mental and physical health is the foundation upon which everything else is built. When we neglect it, we risk feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and unable to cope with life's challenges.

After losing my dad to suicide in 2015, I found myself in a dark place. Grief consumed me, and I struggled to see a way forward. I had a newborn baby to care for, but every day felt like an uphill battle. I turned to alcohol to numb the pain, but that only led to a cycle of regret and deeper sorrow. It wasn't until I made the decision to focus on my well-being that I began to see a glimmer of hope.

The Turning Point

Two years ago, I signed up for a half marathon to raise money for mental health awareness. This decision marked a pivotal moment in my life. It wasn’t just about running; it was about reclaiming my life and prioritising my health. I started with baby steps, building my strength and resilience over six months to complete 21 kilometers. Each step I took was a victory over my struggles, reminding me that I am stronger than my circumstances.

In the midst of pain, I found purpose. The act of training transformed my mindset. I learned that prioritising my well-being isn’t just beneficial for me—it’s essential. It allowed me to connect with others, share my journey, and advocate for mental health awareness.

Never Giving Up

As I approach my goal of running the London Marathon in 2025, a significant year marking a decade of living with grief, I am reminded of the importance of perseverance. Life will throw challenges our way, but giving up is not an option. Each setback can be a stepping stone toward growth if we let it.

I encourage you to embrace your well-being as a priority. Take time for self-care, whether it’s exercising, meditating, or simply taking a moment to breathe. Surround yourself with supportive people who uplift you, and don’t be afraid to seek help when you need it. Remember that it’s okay to struggle; what matters is how you rise from those struggles.

Join Me in This Journey

As I continue on my journey, I invite you to support me and the incredible work of Rethink Mental Illness. Together, we can make a difference and help those who are struggling with their mental health. Every donation counts and contributes to a cause that’s close to my heart.

Let's prioritise our well-being and inspire each other never to give up. Together, we can create a supportive community where everyone feels valued and understood.

Thank you for being a part of this journey ❤️
