I'm fundraising for Rethink Mental Illness!

In September 2026, I am participating in the iconic Berlin Marathon to raise money for Rethink Mental Illness.

It is so important it is to have access to resources and support. That's why I am taking part in this event - to help Rethink Mental Illness continue its mission of improving the lives of those affected by mental illness.

Every donation counts towards my goal of reaching £1,500!

Your contribution will help provide vital services such as support groups, and educational resources for individuals and families affected by mental illness.

Together, we can make a difference.

Strength training has begun

It’s already been a tough year, including the loss of a dear friend. Grief and life can feel heavy, so right now I’m taking things one day at a time and trying to find the small moments of joy wherever I can.

I’ve now signed up for The Serpent 50km race in July. This challenge is about more than distance — it’s about resilience, hope, and continuing to move forward even on the hard days.

Matthew’s training continues too, with his next race being the Bath Half Marathon in March. We’re both putting in the miles, supporting each other, and reminding ourselves why we started.

Mental health affects so many of us, often quietly. You never truly know what someone is going through, which is why we’re proud to be supporting Rethink Mental Illness. They provide vital support, information, and hope to people living with mental illness and their families.

Please look after each other. A small act of kindness, a conversation, or support can make a real difference.

If you’re able to donate — even just a few pennies — you’ll be helping Rethink Mental Illness continue their life-changing work.
If you can’t donate, sharing this message still helps.

Thank you for your support 💙
One step, one day at a time.

Running to support Rethink Mental Illness

Saturday 18th Oct

We are off to the Berlin Marathon in 2026 with Rethink Mental Illness.

Our running journey continues, and with it, our mission to raise awareness and funds for mental health support — in loving memory of our friend Simon.

After running for Mind in the past, we’re now proud to be fundraising for Rethink Mental Illness, a brilliant charity that provides essential support and services for people severely affected by mental illness.

This cause remains incredibly close to our hearts. Simon’s story continues to be at the heart of our efforts, and we’re committed to honouring his memory by running, raising awareness, and helping others get the support they need.

Our Running Journey

🏁 London Marathon – April 2026
I was so lucky to have completed the London Marathon earlier this year, raising funds and awareness in Simon’s name. The support I received was overwhelming and humbling.

👟 Great South Run – Sunday 19th October 2025
Next up — we’re tackling the Great South Run tomorrow together! A fast and flat 10-mile race along the Portsmouth coast. Another step on the road to Berlin.

🌌 Dark Castle – November 2025
We’re excited (and slightly nervous!) to take on this unique night run around Corfe Castle and the surrounding area. A torchlit trail run full of atmosphere and challenge.

🇩🇪 Berlin Marathon – September 2026
The big one on the horizon. We’ll both be running the Berlin Marathon next year — an iconic event and a huge milestone in our journey. Every mile will be run with Simon in our hearts.

🏃‍♂️ Matthew’s Upcoming Races
Matthew is keeping the momentum going — he’ll be running the Bath Half Marathon in March 2026, and has secured a place for the London Marathon in April 2027, and another crack at Race to the King in June 2027. His dedication is unstoppable!

I also find running  great way to keep me steady in this uncertain world. I enjoy the time running alone and with others.

We will keep you updated on our journey and if you can spare and any pennies, would be very greatful
