Dublin Marathon 2025 for Rethink Mental Illness!
I’m running the Dublin Marathon 2025 to raise funds for Rethink Mental Illness, a charity that works tirelessly to support people affected by mental health challenges.
If you know me or follow me on Strava, you may be thinking “Molly doesn’t run” and you would be correct however I am so excited to challenge myself and raise money for a cause that means so much to me following my own struggles with mental illness. I was very lucky to have had some amazing support during my struggles from friends, family and incredible organisations such as Rethink Mental Illness. Whilst healing isn’t linear, I’m grateful to be in the place that I am now which wouldn’t have happened without the endless support I received. I’m hoping that if I’m more open on my own struggles, it may help reduce the stigma for others, even if it is just one person.
At 18, I didn’t see myself making it to my 20s and I certainly didn’t see me having ambitions such as training from couch to marathon in 8 months. Having being diagnosed with depression and anxiety from a young age, I struggled to navigate the change into adulthood by often letting my mental illness define me. To complete this marathon, would be a huge personal achievement for me as only recently, I often struggled to leave the house and look after my basic health. As much as this marathon is for my own personal growth, this is more importantly to raise funds for Rethink Mental Illness. Rethink provides vital services, campaigns for better care, and helps reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Every donation, big or small, will help Rethink continue their life-changing work.
Thank you for cheering me on and please remember that “all lights turned off, can be turned on.” <3
