I'm fundraising for Rethink Mental Illness!

On the 6 of April 2025 I am participating in the iconic London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Rethink Mental Illness.

It is so important it is to have access to resources and support. That's why I am taking part in this event - to help Rethink Mental Illness continue its mission of improving the lives of those affected by severe mental health issues.

Every donation counts towards my goal of reaching £350!

Your contribution will help provide vital services such as support groups, and educational resources for individuals and families affected by mental illness.

Together, we can make a difference.

2025 Running Goals and Others!

Monday 6th Jan
After taking time off from running over the Christmas and  new year period, January 7th is the day I start getting up at 5:15am again and get back outside no matter what the weather!!

My goals for 2024 were to run a minimum 500 miles and run two half marathons, both of which I smashed. I reached the 500 mile goal around the start of November (total for the year 603) and completed the London Half in April and the Oxford Half in October. Unfortunately I took my foot off the gas and didn't do much running at all in Late Nov/Dec.

My goals for 2025 is two half marathons again which I have already signed up to, London again in April for Rethink Mental Illness and Oxford in October which I run purely for myself. My distance goal is increasing to 750 miles for the year, hopefully increasing it from 500 will not allow me to take it easier toward the end of the year.

Getting up 3 to 4 days a week at 5:15am isn't always easy, however if I didn't do my run first thing I would really struggle to run at all. The thought of going to work then coming home to go out and do a 10 mile plus run just isn't me. I'd be thinking about it all day and just keep putting it off.

As soon as I am out the door and into my stride I start to feel great. No matter if I run 3 miles or 13 miles the feeling I get knowing most people haven't even got up by the time I get home is one of great smugness!

Plus the buzz once I'm showered and had breakfast is amazing, it really does set you up for the day ahead.

Because I took my foot off the gas in Nov and Dec I have really piled on the pounds over Christmas so another goal of mine is get back down to 15 stone which is what I was when I ran the full London Marathon back in 2021.

Final goal is to drink less alcohol, which if anything' will really help with the weight loss. I'm not one of the dry January brigade but I am cutting my drinking down in January by giving Wine Wednesday a well earned rest.

I have no idea if I will blog on here again but I had to write this one because it almost becomes like a contract with myself when I write down what I want to do. If I do write more I will share, however if I don't so be it. I now know what I need to do between now and  31st December 2025.
