I'm fundraising for Rethink Mental Illness!

In April 2025 I will be taking part in the London Landmarks Half Marathon whereby I will be hoping to raise money for Rethink Mental Illness.

A little bit about me and why I have chosen this charity? I’m Kelly, 25 years old (will be 26 by time the marathon happens) from Cambridgeshire. I enjoy many things: spending time with my friends and family, going to concerts, exercising, days at the beach, long relaxing walks, binge watching a new series and bottomless brunches to name a few. My favourite food is lasagne and my favourite film is Goodnight Mr Tom (I know all of the words, very sad I know). I am very close with my family and I am an animal mum to my little cute tortoise; Freddie. I have set myself some goals, things I want to complete before I am 30 and a marathon is one of them.

Despite all of the things I enjoy, there isn’t a day that goes by where I’m not affected by mental illness. With that being said, I want to raise awareness and emphasise that a smile can hide a thousand problems. Although in the hardest times it may seem impossible to comprehend; there is a light at the end of the tunnel and your life is worth living. There is no problem that cannot be solved. There are so many beautiful things in the world for you to enjoy. If you are ever in a bad place and you try to get support and it fails, keep trying. There is support out there and things will improve, as Oasis would say ‘little by little’. A charity that offers tremendous support to those in need is Rethink Mental Illness. A charity that offers access to resources and support, improving the lives of those affected by mental illness. I believe it is so important for everyone to have access to crucial services that have guided me, such as support groups and educational resources and your contribution will help Rethink Mental Illness to continue to provide these vital services.

I took on running / exercise when I was at one of my lowest points this year and it has made such a positive impact on my life. Training for the half marathon is something that has been challenging but I am continually proud of. As I was building my fitness I thought why not combine all of the things I am passionate about together, so here we are.

Together, we can make a difference.
