This One’s for You, Dad –supporting RETHINK Mental Illness in Memory of John
Mental health doesn’t discriminate. It can affect anyone, at any time—and often, it hides behind a smile. It doesn’t matter how full of life someone seems. The truth is, we never really know what someone else is carrying.
As a family, we never thought we’d be here—still grieving such a huge loss. We never imagined losing someone like my dad, John to such a cruel illness. He was active, joyful, the kind of man who lit up every room he walked into. Always laughing, always making others laugh. The last person you’d expect to be struggling.
But that’s the reality of mental illness. It’s often invisible. And far too often, people suffer in silence because the support they need is too hard to find—or doesn’t feel within reach.
We know how important that support is, and how painfully lacking it can be. That’s why I’m raising money for Rethink Mental Illness—to help create better access to care, better awareness, and most of all, a culture where it’s absolutely okay to not be okay. A world where asking for help isn’t seen as weakness but as strength. A world where no one feels alone in their struggle and a world where suicide is not be the only escape.
If we can help just one person get the support they need, then this will all be worth it. If we can stop one more family from going through this pain, then we’ve done something meaningful.
This one’s for you, Dad. John—you are missed more than words can say. Your kindness, your spirit, your love of life lives on in all of us, especially in your grandchildren. They carry your light forward every single day.

It still feels unreal to say that out loud—nine years without you, Dad.
Nine years of missing your voice, your laugh, your steady presence.
Nine years of trying to figure things out without your guidance.
