By fundraising for them, I'm helping to ensure that vital services are available to those who need them most.

On May 14th at Derby Quad Cinema, 8pm we are showing

One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest to raise funding for Rethink and Quad and also to raise awareness of how far we’ve come.

From Rebellion to Compassion this is the film of 5he moment 

A tribute to our new Mental Health Act stressing kindness and caring away from control and restraint. 

Please join us for a memorable night and a classic film that changed so much and made mental health something to really care about and get involved in changing for the better as it has been massively here in Derbyshire. Thank you to everyone, everywhere who makes such a difference with kindness.

This is more than just a film fundraiser for Rethink now.

We are starting from 5pm with Lived Experience and a short film by Tony Fisher and a reading of work written by Gavin Cooper. 

From 6pm our Rethink Trustee Ranjit will be talking about his 30 year experiences working with patients detained under the mental health act… and now our new 2025 mental health act,

From 7pm film historian Darrell Buxton will be exciting us with more discussion about our great film before leading us upstairs from Studio Room 3 into our Metro Screen at Quad and then introducing this film to hopefully a completely full house of 116 eager film fans of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest at 8pm.💚

WOW…..DOUBLE WOW….UNFORGETTABLE AND TOTALLY AMAZING……DON’T STOP ME NOW…..THANKYOU 57💚

Feels like truth is the first Casualty in Mental Health when some supposedly intelligent people resort to stigma and hate rather than reasoned debate. The fight for justice for those wrongly accused and those who have their lives ruined and shortened by poor care must go on and on. We stand together and will rattle our chains despite the constant HEAT…IT’S JUST TOO HOT RIGHT NOW💚

WOW……As good as it gets and Something’s gotta give…..One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest keeps on Giving To Rethink and long may Rethink be showing this incredible film because it’s so real. Real Patients, Real Actors and Crew were Patients and a Real Doctor was in this amazing film in his own Real Hospital….Oregon State….. Amazing and so Real…..So Very Real…..Best Film Ever💚

Not everything is Perfect💚

Sometimes you get it right first time and then have to mess something up just to make it more believable. Like the date. Perhaps we had 50 people outside Quad the day before this incredible film… if you see thee 13/5 and didn’t come back 14/5 because you thought I must be a total numpty… you’d be right about the numpty thing…. Lots of folk never want to see me again after 14/5 no matter how many times I try to apologise they didn’t even get a banana💚 Sorry….there I’ve said it again…. I never even noticed that this poster with 12th May for Nurses Day ok….had 13/5 for our film and MH Extravaganza… imagine….. TWO NIGHTS SOLD OUT AT QUAD….sorry, sorry Adam and Eleanor. I tried damn it…..I tried and so did a few others… thankfully they tried better than me💚

Sorry some things appear a bit bonkers and upside down…. A bit like the world so don’t be upset with Quad or Rethink. Amazing people do kind things everyday and the immense pressures mean forget sometimes what incredible abd kind people do….. changing lives every day…..thank you change makers everywhere… you were all brilliant 14/5 at Quad….. and we love lost sheep everywhere for always trying to get back in💚

What an incredible night at Quad on 14/5. Still thinking about it and have the poor legs from trying to stop people leaving💚. Sorry….couldn’t get Harry to lock the doors or Eleanor and Ranjit to stay but the rest of us enjoyed a major film. Much more than 51 yeses old about a sex offender this was for me the greatest film ever made which affected all the cast and crew forever after 1975. It won all Oscar’s rightfully so in major categories and made Jack a very wealthy man. More than that it changed the debate in Mental Health. Despite the widespread Stigma, Ignorance, Discrimination and Prejudice ruining many people with severe mental illness the vital work of Rethink goes on and we will continue to try and rattle our chains to raise our voices for all those struggling with their hidden mental illnesses that cause others to fail to recognise our valid and massive contributions to change every day because we love and live the NHS and sadly carry the scars too💚,

Wow… only 13 Days…..13 Days to Change Mental Healthcare in Derbyshire. Ok maybe too ambitious? 13 Days to raise more money for Rethink Mental Illness Show a great film and sell more tickets. Have an amazing Mental Health Extravaganza in Studio Room 3 or Jack’s Place on 14/5 from 5pm - 7.45pm and hear from Lived Experience, Legal Experience and Film Experience Experts and supporters. Thank you Quad… thank you Rethink and thank you to you for buying tickets and making this Rethink’s Night in Derby at Quad on Thursday 14th May 2026. Thank you💚

14th May at Quad is going to be an Extravaganza for Mental Health and Compassion from 5pm in Studio Room 3 and then from 8pm for our amazing film in Metro Screen at Quad.

Hello fellow Jack fans… Something really special to announce. Darrell Buxton is leading an hour long discussion of this great film from 7pm in Studio Room 3….. Before that Ranjit, a Rethink Trustee is talking about his experiences working with patients detained under the MHA and his time as a solicitor for 30 years … that’s from 6pm……. We start with voices of Lived Experience including a short film by Tony Fisher and a reading of work by Gavin Cooper…. Don’t miss this incredible night in support of Rethink at Derby Quad on 14th May from 5pm…. Thank you💚 Ok….Ok….I hear you….STOP….no seriously we did it….we actually did it and it was amazing….even with a few empty seats. I know you all intended to come…. You tried hard to get to us and didn’t all arrive and leave without finding us💚 Thank you to everyone at Quad and Rethink for making this such an unforgettable and never to be repeated experience…. They so,d out at Okd Vic for the Stage Performance ending 23/5 but never even tried to have so much fun with bananas …. Wow the bananas were amazing … thank you Ryan and Nina for all the bananas …. Quad might want 2 boxes when they show this incredible film again… Just ask Adam💚

Sorry Jack….time keeps on passing….you were 89 last week.
Congratulations….. we’re still building you an audience at Derby Quad, 8pm in the Metro Screen for One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. You made that 51 years ago Jack. How incredible is that?
Totally amazing …. Thank you Jack…. And we are now discussing Mental Health Matters for 3 hrs prior to the film.
So from 5pm - 8pm we are looking at the new Mental Health Act, thinking about MH Developments and Lived Experience Locally. Reading and hearing work from Gavin Cooper and Tony Fisher. Hearing from our very own Rethink Trustee Ranjit and
more from Quad’s excellent film historian Darrell. I’m not sure 3 hours in a 25 seats Studio Room will cover all that so we might
have to spread out into the Cafe Bar or Mac’s Bar or the Cuckoo’s Nest… we can decide on the night…it’s going to be

Please join us if you are anywhere near Derby and if you are tempted to come up from London to the only place in the country showing this amazing film on 14/5… we’re in Derby…. That’s Derby… A big City in the East Midlands…. Between Leicester and Nottingham….we’ve got a Cathedral and a Big Football Team,
